The Nvidia Shield is a solid performer, serving as one of the best showcases to what’s possible with Android TV. There’s a new update that improves on the audio experience, along with delivering the latest security patch.
Each week, we compile all the major software updates to hit the ecosystem, including phones and tablets on U.S. carriers, unlocked phones, Android Wear smartwatches, and Android TV devices. Making sure your device is running the latest available software is a good housekeeping practice, ensuring you have the latest features with fewer bugs and gaping security holes.
Moto 360 (second generation): This update gives you the latest security patches for October. Additionally, it fixes some issues being reported by those who were trying to pair the watch with an iPhone 7.
Moto 360 Sport: Same story here. Your watch will also need to have a sufficient level of power to install the update, so be sure you’re near the charging cradle.
Nvidia Shield: The Shield Experience Upgrade 3.3 brings a lot of under-the-hood improvements. The official changelog lists the following:
- Adds Dolby Atmos audio pass-through support in Plex
- Delivers the latest monthly Android security updates
- Adds support for Vulkan 126.96.36.199 Conformance Test Suite
This will improve the audio experience, particularly if you’re using pass-through with something like Plex Media Server. There are also some bug fixes baked in as well, though we’re still waiting for Nougat.
