Doom co-creator John Romero teases new PC shooter

And he's acting like a Jedi.

It’s been a long, long, long, long time since John Romero worked on a first-person shooter. The famed co-creator of Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake never really left the games industry, yet he hasn’t worked in the genre that made him famous ever since the disastrous 2000 release of Daikatana.

But Romero’s been talking about creating a shooter for the past few years, vaguely discussing the development process for the past few months, and now the stage is set for one hell of a reveal…

...On Monday, that is. April 25. That’s the date listed at the end of the (humorous) teaser video above, titled “The Return,” which also directs viewers to the website for Night Work Games. The site in question is similarly sparse on details but does feature this rather candid sentence:

Night Work Games - John Romero

We’ll keep an eye out for Monday’s announcement—be it screenshots, trailer, or a hologram embedded in Romero’s hair—and update you as soon as possible.
